When I decided to travel to Yunnan, my family was quite worried that I might experience altitude sickness. Although Yunnan's altitude is not as high as Tibet's, there is still a considerable number of people who end up in hospitals due to altitude sickness.
In Puzhehei, I didn't experience any physical abnormalities. It's a serene town filled with lotus flowers everywhere. The sky is pure and beautiful, and time seems to slow down.

In Dali, I encountered the renowned Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake. The mountains and waters complement each other, shrouded in layers of clouds, reminiscent of scenes from a fairy tale.
Shangri-La, Yunnan | July 24, 2023 | Altitude 3500 Meters
Shangri-La served as a transit point for my journey to Meili Snow Mountain. Here, my body gradually underwent some changes. Due to the scarce oxygen, even without engaging in intense physical activities, my heart rate reached 90 beats per minute. So I'm very careful when I'm active, including going up and down stairs and moving things around.
This place is close to Tibet, and most of the residents are Tibetan. The sky displays an incredible deep blue, with clouds so low it feels like you can reach out and touch them.
Meili Snow Mountain, Yunnan | July 25, 2023 | Altitude 3500 Meters
The transportation here is inconvenient. I took a four-hour bus ride to reach my destination. The winding mountain roads during the journey were nerve-racking. The road also passed by the Baima Snow Mountain. The road of the Baima Snow Mountain, which sits at an altitude of 4290 meters, is one of the highest roads in Yunnan Province.
I stayed in an inn run by a couple. Supplies were limited, and most of the daily meals consisted of bread and instant noodles. Sometimes, I would chat with the owners in the common lounge area. They had a dog named Dahei.
The sacredness and beauty of Meili Snow Mountain left a profound impression on me.
Lijiang, Yunnan | July 28, 2023 | Altitude 2400 Meters
After arriving in Lijiang, my physical condition improved somewhat. At the same time, I also started preparing for my return journey.
In the taxi, I caught sight of the famous Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. In the evening, I visited the famous attraction, Lijiang Old Town. But upon arrival, I felt disappointed. Not only was it overcrowded and challenging to find a place to rest, but the ancient town was also severely commercialized. It has now become more of a modern attraction, disguised as an ancient town.
The mushroom hotpot and yak meat here are delicious. Due to Yunnan's climate being ideal for mushroom growth, mushroom dishes are renowned nationwide.
